At 32 years of age I have also chosen to make a career shift myself, from advertising into nursing.  I hear what you&#039;re saying about wanting to find a more fulfilling job, and one that makes a difference.  Don&#039;t let anyone tell you differently, and certainly don&#039;t let some over-paid bitter director make you feel hesitant about going into the field (there are those types in ANY field).  I volunteered in a busy ER over the last 2 years, where I met some of the warmest, most inspiring people in my life.  I also met some really unpleasant folks.  I think the field needs more compassionate people, and it sounds like you may be one of them.  Cheers to you for having the courage to make a change in your life!
